My first blog posting. My first blog. For my first Android app. It's a big day. I'm very excited to introduce NextEvent, which can be found on the Android Market. It's a free, simple app widget that shows you how long until your next calendar or alarm event. The widget is small and doesn't take up much space on your home screen, and it's job is just to tell you when your next event is, not what it is. Of course, you want to know that too, so you can click the widget to get a listing of upcoming events.
I often found myself looking at a calendar and realizing that I wanted to know how much time I had before the next thing I had to do. I was often more interested in that than the actual time it started. Do I have time to grab a longer lunch beforehand? How many hours until the alarm goes off in the morning? How much heads-down time do I have for "real work" before my next meeting? And on top of that, I have many widgets vying for space on my home screen, so I didn't want it to take up much space. NextEvent is an app I use daily myself, and I hope you will find it as indispensable as I have.
